Beta. No one has yet run this guide start to finish in game. Every step is sourced, but expect some numbers and locations to be off. If something does not match what you see, the step is wrong, not you: post the step number and what happened and it gets fixed.
Read it alongside Stunner's guide. Fiery Avenger & Torrid Corruptor by Stunner has excellent screenshots and maps with every NPC marked, and in many ways it is the better guide. What this page adds is the checklist: it tracks your progress, drops the steps you do not need, and sizes the grinds to your factions. Open both.

What have you got?
Now tell it what you're bringing. Shopping you don't need disappears, trips you've already done drop out, and where two routes exist you get the one that fits you.
Trip 1: OdusDeepwater Knights to Warmly, Heretics to what you need, and your bone chip stock.Heretics to Kindly and your bone chip stock. · 1½–2½ hours· about an hour
- ·
Cast Toxxulia Gate and run to The Warrens: Toxxulia Forest → Paineel → left through the newbie yard → tunnel.
- ·
Cast Toxxulia Gate and run to the Paineel newbie yard: Toxxulia Forest → Paineel.
- ·
Kill kobolds until Heretics reads Amiably. +5 each, private instance. Amiably is enough for now: the Paineel kills ahead pull Heretics back down, so the Kindly the Torrid Corruptor needs is farmed after them, not before. An agnostic deity, from the invisible NPC at the Oasis docks, softens this for Paladins. Budget up to a full clear of the zone. Loot Kobold Molars as they drop and count them when you leave: each one is +7 Deepwater at Erudin, about one molar per five kills.
- ·
Kill kobolds until Heretics reads Kindly. +5 each, private instance. The Corruptor's hand-in inside Paineel wants Kindly, and nothing on this path pulls it back down. An agnostic deity, from the invisible NPC at the Oasis docks, softens this for Paladins.
- ·
Run back through the tunnel to the Paineel newbie yard.
- ·
Farm bone chips in the newbie yard. Skeletons respawn in about 10 seconds in batches of four or five, with ten up at once. 400 chips in 30 minutes if you keep moving. Take 400, your entire Priests of Life grind in Trip 2.
- 4
Kill Noclin Saah, who stands to the right of the tunnel leading out of the newbie area. Level 15, 400 HP. +15 Deepwater.
Also worth a detour while you're here: Azzar Habbib, level 25, +10. Just inside the tunnel, open the door in the south wall and run up the stairs; he's at the top. Roughly a 30 minute respawn, so grab him whenever he's up.
Duriek Bloodpool, level 55, stands next to him. Don't tab onto him.
- 5
Click the rock on the rocky path past the voidling and ride the lift down.
Hail a skeleton guard at the courtyard entrance and say . Hold it on your cursor to click the rock; it does nothing from your inventory.
- ·
Hail a skeleton guard at the courtyard entrance and say . Keep it: Trip 9 rides the Paineel lift.
- ·
Build Deepwater Knights by killing Paineel NPCs. This is the grind, and nearly all your Deepwater comes from here. Guards are +10, a few low-level ones +5, and Atdehim Sqonci in the Tabernacle of Terror is +100 on about a six-minute respawn. Stop when the Factions window reads Warmly. Or stop early once the molars you hold cover the gap, at +7 each at Erudin; the calculator below gives the count. Under about 25 molars keep killing instead; the port to Erudin costs more than they are worth.
The 25-molar line is an estimate: 175 points of molars against the five or six minutes the Erudin detour costs, which is roughly the same in guard kills. Nobody has timed it.
Loop the Tabernacle of Terror, about nine killable NPCs, out to Sqonci and back; the teleporters between guild areas shorten it. Skip the Shadow Knight guild (empty), the Necromancer guild (casters, slow) and every guildmaster (unkillable). Faction does not scale with difficulty, so stay at D0.
Warrens only. Skip Paineel and raise Deepwater on molars alone: about one molar per five kobold kills, so 100 molars is 500 kills. Slower, but it never touches Heretics, and the kobold kills raise Heretics as you go.
- 8
Only if Deepwater is still short, kill Elial Brook on your way out, in Toxxulia Forest, north-west of the Paineel zone-in, just north of the small dock at . Level 7, 100 HP. +20 Deepwater.
- ·
Only if Deepwater is still short after Paineel, cast Ring of Toxxulia and run to Erudin: teleport pad → up the stairs → Blue Hawks, first building on the right from the zoneline.
- 10
Go to Tiam Khonsir at . Hail him, say , then .
- ·
Hand in your molars, one to four at a time, until Deepwater reads Warmly. Each molar is +7 Deepwater and costs 1 Heretics, which the kobolds that dropped it more than paid for.
Don't leave Erudin until Deepwater reads Warmly. Coming back is a wasted port.
- ·
Get back to The Warrens: through the newbie-yard tunnel if you are still in Paineel, or cast Toxxulia Gate and run in if you went to Erudin.
- ·
Kill kobolds until Heretics reads Kindly. +5 each, private instance. Every Paineel kill cost you Heretics, and the Corruptor's hand-in inside Paineel needs Kindly.
Trip 2: QeynosPriests of Life to Warmly, using the chips from Trip 1. · 15 minutes
- ·
Cast Ring of Surefall Glade and run Qeynos Hills → North Qeynos.
- ·
Hand your bone chips to Lashun Novashine at the Temple of Life until Priests of Life reads Warmly. Chips go in as a stack, and 300–400 covers it.
He takes hand-ins from Dubious up. He wanders between the Temple and the front gate and is sometimes not up at all. Make a private instance if so.
Human Heads, +37 each. Kill Beggar Wyllin in the Qeynos Aqueducts: fake wall by the entrance, then down, across, second fake wall. Level 5, 72 second spawn, no faction penalty. Hand them to Wolten Grafe in South Qeynos.
Gold, +5 for exactly 2 gold at a time to Lashun. Slowest of the three.
Once you are Amiably, Koalindl Fish to Enic Ruklin at the Temple of Life pool are about +100 each. Do not kill the sacred fish in that pool on your Paladin; loot them on another character or from Frostbite in West Karana.
Trip 3: FaydwerThe Glowing Sword Hilt, and Kiola nuts for the tonics. · 30–45 minutes
- 16
Cast Ring of Butcherblock, then translocate from the docks to Ocean of Tears, Sister Island. In the little house, buy 700–800 Kiola Nuts and 1,000 Water Flasks. Sneak behind the vendor if she won't trade.
- 17
Cast Ring of Steamfont and run to Castle Mistmoore: Steamfont → Lesser Faydark → Mistmoore. Go during game daytime; the castle is far less aggressive and won't react from extreme range.
- 18
Take the shortcut to the pool room: in through the entrance, into the graveyard past the glyph centuries, press the back corner wall (it's a double fake wall) into the torture chamber, up the corridor, through a second torture chamber, past the gargoyles, one more fake wall.
- 19
Kill Xicotl on the Level 2 floor at , in the pool room. If he is not up, reroll the instance; there is no placeholder to kill. A level 43 Shadow Knight who hits harder than his level; do it at D0. Loot the Glowing Sword Hilt, a 100% drop and the only thing he carries.
Then reroll the instance and kill him once more: two SoulFires need two hilts.
Trip 4: FreeportThe entire SoulFire chain except the final turn-in. The big one. Both swords need two SoulFires, so every piece in this trip is made twice, as you go. · 2–3 hours
West Commonlands
- ·
Cast Ring of West Commons.
- 29
Kill giant spiders in West Commonlands for a Spider Venom Sac. Expect several kills. Large spiders in East Commonlands drop it too.
- 29
Kill giant spiders in West Commonlands for two Spider Venom Sacs, one per SoulFire. Expect a good few kills. Large spiders in East Commonlands drop it too.
East Commonlands
- ·
Run east into East Commonlands.
- 24
Buy a regular Cloth Shirt from Germe Threadspinner, around . Not large, not small, plus marks don't matter, about 5 gold. Loric Weaver at sells the same shirt if Germe is not up. Sneak behind her if she won't trade.
- 24
Buy two regular Cloth Shirts from Germe Threadspinner, around . Not large, not small, plus marks don't matter, about 5 gold each. Loric Weaver at sells the same shirt if Germe is not up.
- 37
Go back toward the West Commons line to Altunic Jartin. He lives in the lone hut across the road from inn3, around . He wanders; follow the road if he's out.
- 38
Give him the Cloth Shirt and receive the Token of Generosity.
He needs you at Amiably with Knights of Truth. Followers of Mithaniel Marr usually already are; anyone else who is short can kill Freeport Militia guards in the Commonlands for it. He does not need you to have spoken to Merko first.
- 38
Give him one Cloth Shirt and receive the Token of Generosity. Then give him the second shirt for a second token.
He needs you at Amiably with Knights of Truth. Followers of Mithaniel Marr usually already are; anyone else who is short can kill Freeport Militia guards in the Commonlands for it. He does not need you to have spoken to Merko first.
Shopping and crafting, West Freeport
- ·
Run on to West Freeport.
- 25
Buy 1 Bottle, 1 Snake Scales and 1 Water Flask from any general vendor, plus a spare of each: the combine can fail even below trivial.
Also buy invis potions; you need them for Splitpaw in Trip 5.
Also buy water-breathing potions for the Miragul swim, unless you have the Fishbone Earring.
- 25
Buy 1 Bottle, 1 Snake Scales and 1 Water Flask for each SoulFire, so two of each, plus a spare of each: the combine can fail even below trivial.
Also buy invis potions; you need them for Splitpaw in Trip 5.
Also buy water-breathing potions for the Miragul swim, unless you have the Fishbone Earring.
- 26
Kill a fire beetle for a Fire Beetle Eye and large rats for Rat Ears in the West Freeport newbie yard, and take a spare of each for a failed combine. Both are also vendor-bought.
- 26
Kill fire beetles for two Fire Beetle Eyes and large rats for two Rat Ears in the West Freeport newbie yard, a set per SoulFire, and take a spare of each for a failed combine. Both are also vendor-bought.
- 27
Make Bog Juice at the brew barrel directly outside Hogcallers Inn, around the corner from Linadian. Bottle + Snake Scales + Water Flask. Trivial 21.
- 27
Make Bog Juice at the brew barrel directly outside Hogcallers Inn, around the corner from Linadian. Bottle + Snake Scales + Water Flask. Trivial 21. Make it twice, one combine after the other.
- 28
Make Edible Goo at the oven on the far east side of West Freeport, in an unnamed building. Fire Beetle Eye + Rat Ears. Needs Baking 21, the only tradeskill this quest requires.
Never stack components inside a tradeskill container: one item per slot, CTRL-click to pull a single item off a stack. And park the Goo below your food and water or you will eat it.

East Freeport
- 30
Buy 4 Drom's Champagne from Gregor Nasin, who runs the Roost, or Henna Treghost behind the bar. If one is dubious the other often isn't; they're on different factions.
- 30
Buy two lots of 4 Drom's Champagne from Gregor Nasin, who runs the Roost, or Henna Treghost behind the bar. If one is dubious the other often isn't; they're on different factions.
- 31
Wait for Tykar Renlin at Seafarer's Roost, around : desert-madman model, spawns by the bar in the room on your left. He appears only briefly, so watch for him.
His placeholders are Plnorrick Spinecracker, Biggle Lombokker, Tlin Bowfright and Lozani; if one of those is at the bar, Tykar isn't up. If he is up but won't talk, with nothing targeted triggers him.
Make a fresh instance and you zone in on the docks; a straight run into the Roost often catches him on his first cycle.
- 32
Give him the 4 Drom's Champagne one at a time to be safe; a stack of four has also worked. He gives you Bunker Cell #1, which identifies as "Zimel's Blanket."
- 32
Give him 4 Drom's Champagne one at a time to be safe; a stack of four has also worked. He gives you Bunker Cell #1, which identifies as "Zimel's Blanket." Then give him the second four for a second Bunker Cell; if he has cycled away, wait for him to come round again.
- 33
Bind here. East Freeport is your Plane of Sky staging point, and every teleport fails inside Sky.
The Test of Truth
- 36
Go to Merko Quetalis in the side yard of the Hall of Truth, North Freeport, around . Say .
- ·
Give him the Spider Venom Sac and receive the Token of Bravery.
- ·
Give him one Spider Venom Sac and receive the Token of Bravery. Then the second sac for a second token.
- 40
Find the sewer entrance now. From Merko, follow the wall to the moat to the opening into the Freeport sewers. Knowing the route is the whole trick: Guard Willia, whom the next hand-in spawns, appears just inside it on a flee timer.
- 41
Give Merko both tokens together to spawn Guard Willia.
- 41
Give Merko one Token of Generosity and one Token of Bravery, both tokens together, to spawn Guard Willia. Keep the second pair for after she is dead.
- 42
Go straight there and kill her. Level 6, 344 HP; she dies in a hit or two. She will beg; ignore it. Loot Token of Truth.
Her flee timer runs from the moment she spawns, so don't stop to read. If she gets out the words “thank you for sparing me” you failed; redo the token turn-in and she respawns.
- 43
Return the Token of Truth to Merko and receive the Testimony. Knights of Truth +100.
- 43
Return the Token of Truth to Merko and receive the Testimony. Knights of Truth +100.
- ·
Hand Merko the second pair of tokens. Willia spawns again in the same spot in the sewer.
- ·
Kill her again and loot the second Token of Truth.
- ·
Return it to Merko for the second Testimony.
The prisoner
- 34
Go down into the prison below the West Freeport arena. The prisoner is in the cell directly on your left, around .
- 35
Give him Bog Juice + Edible Goo + Bunker Cell #1. He gives you the H. K. 102.
- 35
Give him Bog Juice + Edible Goo + Bunker Cell #1. He gives you the H. K. 102. Then hand him the second set for a second key.
Lucan
- 44
Create a personal D0 instance of West Freeport.
- 45
Clear the hallway guards; they see through invis.
- 46
Kill Sir Lucan D'Lere in the Freeport Militia House, around , the building with the forge inside. Level 48 warrior, brings one or two adds. His undead form spawns immediately and is weaker.
One write-up says the undead form only appears if your Knights of Truth standing is decent; you should be there by now, but if he dies and nothing rises, that is the first thing to check.
- 47
Kill the undead Lucan and loot Testimony of Truth. +200 Knights of Truth.
The Freeport Militia scowl at you from here on. Leave West Freeport through the instance or under invis; the guards at the gate are the stacked level 50s.
- 47
Kill the undead Lucan and loot Testimony of Truth. +200 Knights of Truth.
The Freeport Militia scowl at you from here on. Leave West Freeport through the instance or under invis; the guards at the gate are the stacked level 50s.
- ·
Create a fresh personal D0 instance of West Freeport and kill Lucan and his undead form again for a second Testimony of Truth.
Only if Knights of Truth is still short
Everything above pays about +315: Altunic +5, Willia +10, the Token of Truth +100, Lucan +200. Check the Factions window before doing any of this. If you're still under Warmly, in order of speed:
Fastest: kill Lucan again. He's a 7 hour respawn in a given instance, so cycle difficulty tiers or reroll for a fresh one. Four kills took one player from mediocre standing to enough for Valeron immediately, and you already know the route.
- 21
Brew Tumpy Tonics until you have about 300. Below brewing 70 the recipe may not appear in the list; combine manually until it does.
- 22
Find Groflah Steadirt, who spawns at the far table in Seafarer's Roost, East Freeport, and only at night, after 9pm game time. He's a rare spawn with three placeholders: Talym Shoontar, Sir Edwin Motte and Imxil Tbrow. Kill one to cycle, or switch instances until he's up.
- 23
Hand him the tonics. This alone puts you at high Warmly, nearly ally, in a single hand-in, and costs no Militia faction.
- ·
Go to Fabian in the Grub 'n Grog Tavern, East Freeport, around .
- ·
Hand Fabian 2 gold at a time until Knights of Truth reads Warmly. +5 a trade; any other amount does nothing, so it is 2 gold, again and again. No Militia faction lost.
Damaged Militia Helms to Theron Rolius in the Hall of Truth are +25 each after you say . Named guards (Guard Zeph, Guard Orpheen at the East Freeport / North Ro line) drop them about a third of the time and the kills are +10 apiece, but every kill costs Freeport Militia.
Once you are Amiably, Mojax Hikspin in West Commonlands, around , takes Bottles of Milk by the stack for about +5 each after you say . Not faster than Fabian from cold, but it works if you are passing.
Brilliant Sword of Faith
- 48
Give the Testimony of Truth to Valeron Dushire and receive the Brilliant Sword of Faith. He's on the second floor balcony of the Hall of Truth, North Freeport, . He is easy to walk past.
He needs Knights of Truth at Warmly; if he will not take the Testimony, the faction top-up above is why. Use Feign Death or an Enchanter illusion if you're KOS by now.
- 48
Give the Testimony of Truth to Valeron Dushire and receive the Brilliant Sword of Faith. Give him the second Testimony for the second sword.
On the way out
- 49
Run to High Keep: West Commonlands → Kithicor Forest → Highpass Hold. Straight across Kithicor.
- 50
Give the H. K. 102 to Assistant Kiolna in the bank, downstairs, around , and receive A Sealed Note. Works at Indifferent.
H. K. 102 is a safe deposit box key. The clerk opens box 102 and hands you what's inside: Zimel's letter from Brother Hayle, saying he'll hold SoulFire until the note is presented. It's a claim ticket, which is why Hayle takes it alone first and hands it back opened.
- 50
Give the H. K. 102 to Assistant Kiolna in the bank, downstairs, around , and receive A Sealed Note. Works at Indifferent. Give her the second key for the second note.
H. K. 102 is a safe deposit box key. The clerk opens box 102 and hands you what's inside: Zimel's letter from Brother Hayle, saying he'll hold SoulFire until the note is presented. It's a claim ticket, which is why Hayle takes it alone first and hands it back opened.
Trip 5: SplitpawSoulFire. · 20 minutes
- 51
Cast Circle of North Karana, run North Karana → South Karana → Splitpaw Lair, then cross the bridge, take a left, up the stairs into the prison. Brother Hayle is in the jail area, lower left of the map, at . Levers on the walls open the cell doors.
The inner door locks behind you. The lever is on the left as you face the cell. It barely matters; every character can cast Gate as a ritual and everyone has Origin from level 1.
- 52
Give him A Sealed Note alone. He hands it back opened.
This works below the faction bar, so it is not confirmation. He checks both Priests of Life and Knights of Truth; his line is "you must honor both the Temple of Life as well as the Hall of Truth."
- 52
Give him A Sealed Note alone. He hands it back opened. Then the second note, alone, the same way.
This works below the faction bar, so it is not confirmation. He checks both Priests of Life and Knights of Truth; his line is "you must honor both the Temple of Life as well as the Hall of Truth."
- 53
Give him these four together: opened Note + Testimony (Merko's) + Glowing Sword Hilt + Brilliant Sword of Faith. He gives you SoulFire.
SoulFire: 2H Slashing, 23/45, STR +7, WIS +7, Promised Renewal instant at level 40 on a 15 minute cooldown. Magic, Lore, No Trade, Paladin.
If he hands the four back, Priests of Life is short of Warmly; the hover on his name says by how much. Lashun in North Qeynos is the fix.
- 53
Give him these four together: opened Note + Testimony (Merko's) + Glowing Sword Hilt + Brilliant Sword of Faith. He gives you SoulFire. Then the second set of four for the second SoulFire. One goes to Inte in Sky, the other to Luxio at the very end. SoulFire is Lore, so the second one goes straight to the bank; that also means the wrong sword is never in your hands at a turn-in.
- ·
Before you leave Splitpaw, kill Brother Hayle. Loot the Burning Soul of the Pious, the first of the three Corruptor souls.
- ·
Right-click the soul to reveal its hint. Every soul in this quest has to be right-clicked before it will turn in, and the hint disappearing afterwards is how you confirm you have the correct version.
Trip 6: Upper GukGhoulbane. Pure RNG on a 20.8% drop. · 1–2 hours
- 54
Cast Ring of Feerrott, run Innothule Swamp → Upper Guk, then to the shin lord camp: entrance → left at the roundabout → up the hallway → around the corner → duck under the low bridge → down the stairs → left at the fork → through the room on the south branch → keep south over the gangplank.
- 55
Kill the froglok shin lord at . Level 30 froglok Paladin, 1200 HP, AC 267; he lays hands and casts Healing, so bring an interrupt. Loot Ghoulbane. 20.8% observed over 216 synced kills, and no placeholder, so just re-kill on his timer. Expect about five.
Speed trick: difficulty and pick changes have a five minute cooldown, so hopping between two difficulty settings kills two spawns in the time one would normally take.
Each kill is Frogloks of Guk −50; by the fifth the living frogloks in Upper Guk are hostile, which only matters if you still have to walk past them. The Sword of Nobility quest is an alternate route to Ghoulbane and is not enabled; components drop, the quest NPC doesn't function.
- ·
Run on down to Lower Guk, the Dead Side.
- ·
Kill ghoul cavaliers on the Dead Side of Lower Guk, in the basement under the supply room, three floors down, around , until one drops the Dark Reaver. It is a random drop and can take a while; Grimrot wants it in Trip 9, and you are already in Guk.
Two items carry the name; the quest wants the one whose lore reads "A Dark Reaver".
Trip 7: The book, the Phylactery, MiragulTwo dragons, an oracle and a lich. · 1–1½ hours with a Book of Scale, 3–4 without
The Book of Scale
- 57
Buy a Book of Scale from another player if you can. It is Lore but tradeable, and the turn-in that creates it is multiquestable. Buying one removes Nagafen, Vox and the Rineval trip from this quest entirely.
- ·
Cast Ring of Lavastorm and run to Sol B.
- ·
Kill Lord Nagafen in a voidling instance and loot the Torn, Burnt Book, which identifies as "Right half of the book of scale." 34.2% observed.
He can be disarmed; he wields Scourge. Above D0 he does not flee at low health.
- ·
Cast Ring of Surefall Glade and run Qeynos Hills → Blackburrow → Everfrost → north then east to the Lake Wall → Permafrost.
- ·
Kill Lady Vox and loot the Torn, Frost-Covered Book, "Left half." 39.9% observed.
Lair-splitting trick: run through the lair, down the tunnel, out to the goblin room, up the goblin cliff, through both doors. About half the adds lose pathing.
- 60
Take both books and 1,000pp to Rineval Talyas in the North Qeynos newbie yard and receive the Book of Scale. No faction needed. Evil-side alternative: Rysva To`Biath in Neriak Commons, who works even at Dubious.
The Phylactery
- 61
Cast North Ro Gate, run to the East Freeport docks and take the translocator to Ocean of Tears. The Oracle is visible from where the boat drops you. Go to the Oracle of K`Arnon at . He sits there, 100% spawn on a ~6 hour timer; if he is not up, reroll the instance. He and the Guardian of K`Arnon both con indifferent. No fight required.
- 63
Hail him, say , let him finish the Tome of Ages speech, then say . Now hand it over and receive Miragul's Phylactery.
Miragul
- ·
Cast Ring of Surefall Glade and run Qeynos Hills → Blackburrow → Everfrost Peaks as a private instance: the Lich spawns when the zone is created, so in your own instance he is up.
- ·
Drop through the ice hole and swim in. It's just above the fork, on the left side of the river on the map.
You need the water-breathing potions you bought in Freeport. Long swim from the ice hole with nowhere to surface, and Paladin, Monk and Enchanter cannot cast Enduring Breath.
The caves sit off the end of the northeast branch of the river. Long swim, nowhere to surface, but your water breathing covers it.
- 66
Find Lich of Miragul at or . He roams between them.
Do not attack the Lich: 1500 point lifetap. He does not aggro you. Level 45, 10k HP, sees invis and invis-versus-undead but not Hide/Sneak.
Solon Mistmoore is also down here: KOS, unkillable, unrootable. Train him off and wait to drop aggro.
- 67
Give the Lich the Phylactery yourself. Only the character who turns it in can loot the reward.
- 68
Kill Miragul. Level 53, 20,000 HP, AC 363. Expect the longest fight of the chain. Loot Miragul's Head and Miragul's Robe. Both guaranteed.
Melee is negligible; the damage is the 1500 point Deadly Lifetap proc, which heals him and checks at magic −200. Mage Hunter Stance halves it. He has very high evasion, resists stuns, and flees at low health; keep a snare ready. He'll spam Root, which mostly fails.
If you killed Vox on this trip, do Miragul the same visit; Permafrost and the ice caves are both off Everfrost.
Trip 8: Plane of SkyThe turn-in. Read the whole trip before you start it. · 1–2 hours
The shape of it: you fight up to Island 4, come back down to pay Dason Goldblade in the quest room, and that spawns Inte Akera, a level 55 Paladin, at the Island 4 windmill. He is the one who takes both swords and hands you the Fiery Avenger.
- 70
Extract the effects you want to keep. Spend motes to push Ghoulbane to +4 and pull its Dismiss Undead proc, and SoulFire to +2 for its Promised Renewal click. Promised Renewal can go straight into the Fiery Avenger. Do this to the SoulFire you are handing Inte; the banked one gets the same treatment before Luxio.
Inte consumes both swords permanently. Anything you have not extracted is gone.
Extracting does not change an item's tradability. Restrictions only tighten when you insert an Exaltation, where the item's usable classes narrow to the overlap.
- 70
Cast Ring of West Commons, run to the Freeport docks, and click the purple orb on the rock in the bay at . A Wizard at 50 can cast Alter Plane: Sky instead.
- 71
Create a solo D0 non-respawning instance.
- ·
Buy the free Efreeti's Key from the Key Master by the zone-in on Island 1. It opens the quest room you come back to later; it looks like a jade.
- ·
Fight up to Island 4, Pegasus: Island 1 → 1.5 → 2 → 3 → 4. Each island's boss drops the key to the next pad, the pads only go up, and a key goes onto your keyring for good the first time you use it. The Key of Swords and Key of the Misplaced can also be bought from the Key Master if you would rather not farm the thunder spirits.
Island 4 mobs turn aggressive after the first kill and split on death, up to three deep; expect to tank more than one. On Island 3 fight with your back to the centre, the harpies' Mana Detonation can throw you off the edge.
- 73
Clear around the windmill on Island 4. Inte spawns here later and you want it quiet when he does; the griffins split on death, the aggro radius is large, and the essence carriers inside scowl at everyone, so invis in before you start.
- ·
Return to Island 1. Evacuate or Succor if any class you carry has it; you land at the zone-in. Otherwise jump off the edge: you land in the East Freeport bay, swim west to the docks, click the orb again, and use the difficulty button to re-enter your own D0 instance. No pad below Island 8 goes down.
If the Island 5 to 8 keys are already on your keyring from earlier Sky clears, ride the pads on through 5, 6, 7 and 8 instead; the Island 8 pad returns you to Island 1 without leaving the instance. On a mount it is faster than the fall and the swim.
- ·
Take the north teleport pad on Island 1, around , into the quest room. It needs the Efreeti's Key on you.
- 75
Hail Dason Goldblade, around , and give him 500 platinum. Inte Akera spawns at the windmill on Island 4.
If you're in a group, the Burning Soul of the Virtuous is linked to whoever paid the 500pp, not to the group.
A longer route also works if Dason won't take it: say , then , hand back the book Walk with Evil, hail Dirkog Steelhand, say then , and pay Dirkog. Try Dason directly first.
In a group, one person can pay Dason while you wait at the windmill; for the Avenger it does not matter who paid.
Anyone in the party the Deepwater Knights hate should wait on Island 3 until Inte is gone; he aggroes them across the island.
- ·
Take the quest room's portal back to Island 1 and ride the pads up to Island 4. The keys are on your keyring and the islands are already clear, so this is a walk.
There is a chest in the quest room for anything you left at home.
- 77
Drop invis. Turn-ins fail silently while invisible, with no message telling you why.
- ·
Hail Inte and start handing things over. No dialogue is needed before the first hand-in.
He despawns after about five minutes, so have the three hand-ins ready before you hail him. If he vanishes mid-sequence, pay Dason again. Don't stand on the windmill edge; people fall off.
- 79
Give Inte SoulFire alone and receive the Blessing of Nobility.
If he refuses the sword, Deepwater Knights is short of Warmly. Kindly is not enough here and a refused hand-in can eat the item, so check the hover before you give him anything.
- 80
Give Inte Ghoulbane alone and receive the Blessing of Sacrifice.
- 81
Give Inte Blessing of Nobility + Blessing of Sacrifice + Miragul's Head + Miragul's Robe together. He gives you the Fiery Avenger.
- ·
Kill Inte and loot the Burning Soul of the Virtuous. One spawn covers both, so the Avenger hand-in comes first and the kill second.
Trip 9: The Torrid CorruptorSoulFire plus three Burning Souls. · a long evening, plus a rare spawn wait
It consumes your second SoulFire and a Dark Reaver, not the Fiery Avenger.
It consumes a SoulFire and a Dark Reaver.
This section is built from fewer sources than the rest of the guide: one dedicated write-up, eqlwiki, eqlforge and one recorded playthrough. Treat the faction numbers as approximate and confirm turn-ins in game.
Soul one: the Pious, and the Dark Reaver
You already carry the Burning Soul of the Pious from Brother Hayle in Splitpaw, right-clicked. What is missing is the weapon Grimrot wants with it.
You already carry the Burning Soul of the Pious from Splitpaw, the Dark Reaver from Lower Guk and the Burning Soul of the Virtuous from Inte. One soul to go, the Pestilent, and then the hand-in.
- ·
Cast Ring of Feerrott and run Innothule Swamp → Upper Guk → Lower Guk, as a personal D0 instance.
- ·
Kill ghoul cavaliers on the Dead Side of Lower Guk, in the basement under the supply room, three floors down, around , until one drops the Dark Reaver. It is a random drop and can take a while; nothing else in this trip needs it, so this is the one item worth farming early.
Two items carry the name; the quest wants the one whose lore reads "A Dark Reaver". Grimrot consumes it.
Soul two: the Pestilent
- ·
Raise Bloodsabers until the Factions tooltip reads Kindly with the Gharin's Note (evil) loop, +50 a lap: buy 4 Crow's Special Brew from Crow in North Qeynos, , hand them to Gharin in South Qeynos, by the Bag n Barrel or in his room on the third floor of the Lion's Mane, and take the Sealed Letter he gives you to Nomaria Doseniar in the Qeynos Aqueducts, . Skip the Te'Anara leg; it pays no Bloodsabers.
Gharin will not talk to you below Indifferent with Guards of Qeynos but still takes the brew, and Nomaria has taken the letter at Dubious. Only the evil version raises Bloodsabers; the good version's hand-in to Roesager Thusten lowers it.
Slower: Guard Shilster, North Karana , who wanders to the bridge and back. +5 per 5 gold, one hand-in at a time; stacks are not accepted.
The brew is 3sp 1cp and not quantity-limited, so a full grind from nothing is about 36 gold. Grimrot's own hand-in pays +100 on top, and it lands ahead of the kill.
- ·
Find Lord Grimrot in South Karana at , by the skeletons. There is a living and an undead version with the same name; you need the living one, which looks like a paladin rather than a skeleton.
His placeholder is the one putrid skeleton that stands; the ones lying around it are not, and each of those costs Bloodsabers −1 if you kill it. The placeholder itself costs −2.
3 to 4 hours from placeholder to next spawn, and it is the living version only a fraction of the time. Bind at the spawn and fish: check each difficulty's open-world pick, and spend instance charges one at a time. Players report him at 6am, 10am and 6pm game time; more looks per hour is what pays.
Other knights in the zone are on the same hunt. Whoever lands a living one can use Invite Group on the difficulty button and everyone joins that instance for their own hand-in before the kill.
- ·
Right-click the Burning Soul of the Pious in your bags while standing at him; yellow text starts the encounter and he speaks. Then give Grimrot the soul and the Dark Reaver together. He keeps the Reaver and hands the soul back. Right-click it; if there is no hint text, it worked. Hint still there means the turn-in failed, almost always faction.
You cannot sneak or hide these soul turn-ins. They fail silently.
Kindly is the number to have. One wood elf, whose race caps Bloodsabers at Amiably, was accepted at Amiably; nobody has tested lower, and a failed hand-in here means waiting on the spawn again.
- ·
Kill Grimrot. Loot the Burning Soul of the Pestilent and the Pestilence Scythe with 1 charge of Vampiric Curse. Do not use the charge. The second scythe of the same name reads "Pestilence Scythe (No Soul)" and is useless here.
Killing him costs about −915 Bloodsabers and pays +137 Guards of Qeynos. Nothing after this needs Bloodsabers, so let it happen. If you want the standing anyway, feign death before he dies and let a pet or DoT land the blow; the hit never lands.
- ·
Cast Toxxulia Gate and run Toxxulia Forest → Paineel, then ride the lift down; you have the key from Trip 1.
- ·
Find Jotayi Ibupran, at , the necromancer guild, The Abattoir, on the third-floor balcony overlooking the courtyard. Give the Burning Soul of the Pestilent and the Pestilence Scythe that still has its charge. Right-click the soul she returns to confirm no hint.
Chips for Xelha
- ·
Ride the lift back up to the Paineel newbie yard.
- ·
Farm bone chips in the northernmost corner of the newbie yard, around : one spot spawns 4 decaying skeletons on a very fast respawn, and 3 fire beetles next to them. Roughly 400 chips in 30 minutes. Four chips are +5 with Xelha, so 400 is +500; the calculator on her step says how many you need, and if it is more than about 500, take fire beetle eyes as well, which she accepts once you reach Amiably and which pay double.
Bone chips made by the Necromancer Flesh to Bone AA are No Trade and cannot be turned in.
Soul three: the Virtuous
The shape of it: fight up to Island 4, come back down to pay Dason Goldblade in the quest room, and that spawns Inte Akera, a level 55 Paladin, at the Island 4 windmill. Only the character who paid can loot the soul he drops.
- ·
Cast Ring of West Commons, run to the Freeport docks, and click the purple orb on the rock in the bay at . A Wizard at 50 can cast Alter Plane: Sky instead.
- ·
Create a solo D0 non-respawning instance.
- ·
Buy the free Efreeti's Key from the Key Master by the zone-in on Island 1. It opens the quest room you come back to later; it looks like a jade.
- ·
Fight up to Island 4, Pegasus: Island 1 → 1.5 → 2 → 3 → 4. Each island's boss drops the key to the next pad, the pads only go up, and a key goes onto your keyring for good the first time you use it. There is a chest in the quest room for anything you left at home.
- ·
Kill Inte Akera at the windmill and loot the Burning Soul of the Virtuous. You are not handing him anything; the soul is the point.
The turn-in
- ·
Hand Xelha Nevagon your bone chips four at a time until Dismal Rage reads Amiably. That is all Luxio needs. She runs Assist the Great Xelha in the East Freeport evil tunnels, around ; the entrance is beneath Seafarer's Roost, or through the wall off to the left of the gate.
She takes hand-ins from Dubious up; only if she is at Scowls and attacks do you need an illusion to trade with her. Rates: 4 bone chips = +5, 4 fire beetle eyes = +10, 4 spiderling silk = +10. Eyes are only accepted from Amiably on, so they are for margin, not for getting there.
- ·
Right-click all three souls. The Pious and the Pestilent should show nothing; the Virtuous should still show yellow text pointing you to Luxio. Any other pattern means a hand-in upstream failed.
- ·
Take the second SoulFire out of the bank and spend motes to pull its Promised Renewal click, the same as you did for the first. Luxio consumes the sword.
- ·
Find Luxio Nulsis in the same tunnels, near the Shadow Knight and Necromancer guildmasters, around . Hailing him gets you "Leave me, I have no interest in speaking with you." Say instead. Then give him the three Burning Souls + SoulFire together.
Luxio consumes the SoulFire. Pull its Promised Renewal click first or it goes with it.
"You must turn in all quest items at once" means one of the four items is wrong. The usual one is the sword: it is the SoulFire he wants, not the Fiery Avenger, and a Paladin carrying both has handed him the wrong one.
"You must turn in all quest items at once" means one of the four items is wrong: a soul that still shows text when it should not, or one that failed a hand-in upstream. Recheck the three souls.
DoneWhat you walk away with
That was the last step. A long road. Go hit something with it.
You hold the Fiery Avenger. Everything you raised stays raised, so the Torrid Corruptor is a much shorter road from here if you ever want it: switch the goal at the top and the guide drops what you have already done.
You hold the Torrid Corruptor. Everything you raised stays raised, so the Fiery Avenger is a shorter road from here: switch the goal at the top and the guide drops what you have already done.
Both swords are yours, and you never crossed a zone twice to get them.
Deepwater Knights and Heretics are two of the three factions the Erudite race unlock needs; only High Council of Erudin is left, and the molars you handed Tiam already moved it. Cloths from Aderius Rhenar in The Warrens to Leraena Shelyrak in Erudin finish it, if you want the race.

Oathbreaker's Curse keeps you in combat, which blocks out-of-combat regeneration. Several players find that more annoying than the proc is worth and swap the Corruptor out between fights.
Flame Shock fires from level 45 and the Exaltation line lands on Bash. Anything you extracted from Ghoulbane or the SoulFire before Inte took them can go into it now.
If anything in this guide did not match what you saw in game, that is the guide's fault, not yours. Post the step number and what happened and it gets fixed for the next Paladin.
